Welcome to Lakeview Dental Care online! Today’s blog is going to share with you some information about dental veneers. Have you heard of dental veneers? Dental veneers are thin shells which are bonded to your front teeth to give you a healthy, attractive smile.

Dental veneers can be used to correct crooked teeth, to whiten your smile, or to close small gaps in your mouth.  Veneers are stain resistant and durable—but there are still things you can consider doing to extend the life of your veneers. If you care for your veneers well, they could last for up to 15 years.

You may already know that one of the most important things you can do is simply brush your teeth twice a day, though you should also remember to brush at least once every day. However, if you have veneers, you should know that the right type of toothpaste can also help you. You see, some toothpastes are less abrasive than others—such as toothpastes designed for sensitive teeth.

It’s also important that you remember to not misuse your teeth. So please don’t bite down on ice, metal, your fingernails, or pens. Chewing on these items could chip your teeth—or crack your veneers. If this happens, you’ll need to have your old veneers removed and have new veneers placed.

Similarly, please remember to limit your intake of certain drinks, such as alcohol and soda. You’ll also need to visit our dentist, Dr. Jeffrey Brink, once every six months to make sure your veneers are in great shape.
